In the modern world in which we live, everyone appreciates the value of a beautiful, healthy smile. Orthodontics is the specialised branch of dentistry that can help you achieve this, using your own natural teeth, by improving the way your teeth line up and the way they bite together. Not only are straight teeth more pleasing to the eye, but they are also easier to clean and are more likely to resist wear over time.

The Orthodontic Society of Ireland is the largest and longest-established specialist dental organization in Ireland, and one that promotes best practice in Orthodontics in Ireland. The Orthodontic Society of Ireland was founded in 1990, with the aim to promote quality Orthodontics in Ireland through education and research. Each member of the Orthodontic Society of Ireland is both a qualified dentist and a registered Specialist in Orthodontics.

To become recognised as an Orthodontic Specialist by the Dental Council in Ireland, it is now necessary to complete a 3 year full time training programme in orthodontics after completing at least 5 years of dental undergraduate training. Consequently, each member of the Orthodontic Society of Ireland has proven themselves in the field of dentistry, ensuring that they are capable of carrying out your orthodontic treatment to the highest international standards.
